Good governance is clearly the opposite of bad governance. It refers to the process of making decisions and implement policies that take into account the following eight major characteristics (UNESCAP). For Ayiti Gouvènans is not only the responsibility of governments and elected officials. It is the business of both formal and informal actors in decision-making. For instance, if the civil society is weak and unorganized, it’s very unlikely that good governance can be implemented.
Good governance has 8 major characteristics. It is participatory, consensus oriented, accountable, transparent, responsive, effective and efficient, equitable and inclusive and follows the rule of law. It assures that corruption is minimized, the views of the people living in the outskirts of the major cities and rural areas are taken into account and that the voices of the most vulnerable in society are heard in decision-making. It is also responsive to the present and future needs of society.
Through its good governance program, AG consistently seeks to help the territorial collectivities and community leaders
